Megavina's Investigators have visited this japanese restaurant in Saigon, they selected a few dishes and beverages, they checked the cleanliness and how the staff interacted with clients. Comfortable, good food, staff so so...

Beautiful decoration, japanese ambiance, our first impression was very good even if the reception was not very cheerful. It was still early so no client in the restaurant. We followed the waitress to a table for 2 persons. The Sakyo Sushi menu was quite large and offered a lot of choice of dishes.

To start, we selected "Atarime" (grilled squid) with 2 Asahi beers. On the menu, this dish is at 121.000vnd (5.60usd). We used to visit japanese restaurants so we were surprised by the lack of dish presentation. Squid was good but a bit tasteless.

To continue we chose Wagyu sashimi, this meat has come to be known nowadays as the most highly marbled and most expensive beef produced in the world. The unique taste and tenderness of highly marbled Wagyu beef makes for an unrivalled eating experience. That's why Wagyu beef is finding its way into the repertoires of Gourmet cooks and fine restaurants across the US, Australia but also in Europe. Price of the dish 660.000vnd (29 euros - USD 30).To find out if our waitress had received some knowledge on Japanese beef, we asked her if it was meat from Kobe. Of course, we won't know if the meat was Kobe, Mishima, Matsusaka, or Ōmi Sanda! She couldn't tell us anything about the Wagyu meat...

We also ordered Japanese eel served with soba and udon (unagi sushi gozen) and salmon and seaweed sashimi.

Our meal was good but far from excellent, the presentation is not very refined and very slow service. At no time, even after our meal, the waitress offered us tea or sake. If the dining room is quite pleasant and nicely decorated, the service is not professional, it's probably missing a good management. The manager did not seem very attentive, she didn't even come to say "hello" or if we enjoyed our meal. Now if you think that we left saying to the staff "Gochisōsama deshita" (ご ち そ う さ ま で し た), of course we didn't because obviously no japanese staff was working in this restaurant.

    My husband and I followed the advices of Tripadvisor but in fact we were quite disappointed because we expected much netter, we only loved the decoration. Food was so so, may be our selection... I think prices are overpriced for the quality offered.

    Food was ok, maki were fresh but i am not sure about the tuna sashimi. We asked for cold beer without any ice and unfortunately they didn't have, how is it possible in a restaurant not to have beverages stocked in the fridge? Really i don't understand!

    Quite good food but dead ambience. We were the only table in the restaurant and staff didn't care of us so much. Our waitress had difficulties to speak english properly and the other waitress didn't dare to come to our table. We loved the decoration and we must agree that the service is not professional. It's strange because the hotel has a very good staff, friendly and caring!
