Megavina's Investigators have visited this gourmet restaurant, they ordered a selection of dishes and beverages, visited the facilities (toilets and had a look on the kitchen area if possible), they checked the cleanliness and how the staff interacted with clients. Our investigators work anonymously, the best way to get real and objective reviews because the staff and the managers don't know that we are investigating.

Excellent food, original decoration

If you are after a change of pace, and feel like something a bit more up-market, then Xu Restaurant Lounge is the place to go.
Enjoyed it so much the first time in august 2013, Megavina came back because we were invited by one of our biggest client.

The dining room is still very cosy with a good and romantic atmosphere, small votive on each table. Restaurant was almost full, fortunately one table had been reserved in advance for us.

We received a welcoming cocktail, very refreshing with an original presentation. One of them is called a "Cold Pot" with rum, tea, honey and vietnamese herbs, the other one, a "Basil Gimlet (gin, basil, honey, kumquat).

Then we had a selection of dishes, original, succulent, creative, just amazing! A vietnamese soup with crab, prawns spring rolls, beef skewers, small pancakes with pork, mung beans and shrimps, seared scallops, duck with ginger sauce, seabass, filet mignon.
The way dessert was done here was great. Served in Chinese soup spoons, you only get a "taste" of the dessert, you can even ask for extra spoons if you really enjoy one of them for an extra cheap cost.

The meal was served with an Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2012 Marlborough (It's a New Zeland wine with an abundant bouquet, always crisp, elegant and refreshing perfectly served with seafood or fish because of it's enticing citrus notes
and tropical flavours), a Riverbank Estate Shiraz 2009 Langhorne Creek(An Australian dark ruby colour wine with aromas of blackberries, allspice and clove which continue on to the palate, a very good choice with the duck and beef).
Concha Y Toro Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2008 Maule Valley (This chilian wine has a bright, gold-yellow color with shades of amber. Mature fruit aromas, such as apricot, melon and pear, the perfect dessert wine).

We were very pleased to be asked each time whether we were ready to have our next dish, rather than have all food brought out to us and shoved down our throats in 10 minutes like most other Asian restaurants we had been to.

The food was great, the portion is small with variety kind of dishes per course and we love the way they do.

In one year, staff has made excellent improvement, the waiter who served us was very confident, courteous and attentive.

Great dining experience in a funky and glamorous environment, a succulent modern vietnamese cuisine, we would like to thanks Mr Loi for his kindness and the chef Nguyễn Đức Biên for his original cuisine.

At just a few minutes walking from Park Hyatt Saigon, Aquari hotel or the italian restaurant Ciao Bella, the Xu Lounge is at just 10 minutes by car from Ben Thanh market.
Very well located in district 1.

    Matsuyama,

Probably the best vietnamese restaurant in town, the chef is an artist, his concept of small portions is a real success. Prices are quite high but quality is au rendez-vous. Dining room is very cosy, i love it. Lounge is very comfortable and cocktails delicious. Our server spoke excellent English and helped us navigate our way through the menu. Thanks tripadvisor and of course Megavina for those good advises very detailled. Who visited the restaurant from Megavina?
