Nam Thien Nhat Tru Pagoda
100 Đặng Văn Bi Bình, Thọ Thủ Đức, Ho chi minh city
Nam Thien Nhat Tru Pagoda (in vietnamese Chùa Một Cột Thủ Đức - Nam Thiên Nhất Trụ), the Southern One Pillar pagoda was modeled on Hanoi’s one pillar pagoda and is located on Dang Van Bi Street, Thu Duc District.
The pagoda started its construction on 8 April 1958 by Monk Thich Tri Dung with the support of Do Thi Vinh, a Buddhist. If the architecture and design is similar to One Pillar Pagoda (Dien Huu Pagoda) in Hanoi, both are not indentical. Nam Thien Nhat Tru Pagoda was completed in 1977 after nearly 20 years of construction.
The pagoda is placed on a pillar about 12 meters high with the statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara inside bringing the tranquil and calm atmosphere to the pagoda.
Thanks to its unique beauty, Nam Thien Nhat Tru Pagoda annually welcomes millions of tourists and Buddhists devotees to go sightseeing and worship, which becomes one of the fascinating tourist attractions in town.
