Po Nagar is a Cham temple tower founded sometime before 781 and located in the medieval principality of Kauthara, on Cù Lao Mountain. It's also known as Thap Ba.
It is dedicated to Yan Po Nagar, the goddess of the country. It's interesting to know that Cham was an ancient civilization particularly influential in Southeast Asia, especially in Vietnam and Cambodia. The Cham ruled Vietnam for 1000 years, their unmistakable architecture and art style had spread widely across places in the country. They are said to have their root in the India’s Buddhism. Thus, there are a great deal of similarity between Angkor Wat and the Po Nagar Towers found in Nha Trang.
The temple's central image is a 1.2m tall stone statue of the goddess Yan Po Nagar sitting cross-legged, dressed only in a skirt, with ten hands holding various symbolic items. If you are interesting in history, you can be amazed to find hundreds of ancient relics displayed inside the complex. If you love taking travel photographs, the promontory on which the towers stand has a fantastic view of Cai River and the village on the riverside.
Entrance fees: 22.000đ (around 1$ per person)
