Hue
Hue, a city with an inspiring past, did you know that it was the capital of Vietnam until 1945? The old capital of Vietnam has plenty of wonderful places to visit. The first place is of course the Imperial City with many gates, including the famous forbidden Gate of the Noon (Ngo Mon) without forgetting many temples around (Trieu Mieu, Hung Mieu, Thai Mieu) inside the City.
If you stay a few days in Hue city, you will appreciate its richness. If Hue seems a peaceful place it is probably because of the religion oriented Buddhism. Do not be astonished to see so many vegetarian restaurants. Hue is a historical site, you will discover the tombs of emperors, Imperial Citadel, Perfume River and the multitude of pagodas.
Classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, Hue Imperial City, the city offers to you, visitors, many souvenirs to bring back into your luggage.
At the heart of the city the imperial city, surrounded by a moat. It is built on a site chosen by geomancers. The Emperor Gia Long himself supervises the construction.
You can admire during your visit, the sacred canons, doors, rooms of the Mandarin, dynastic urns ....
Where to sleep in Hue?
So many hotels in Hue but some of them are always full so it's interesting to know why. I think to the Jade Hotel offering a gorgeous breakfast each day,
the staff is particularly attentive and the hotel really well located. We could talk about the Moonlight hotel and particularly about the room 1002 with an amazing view
and the hotel is located at less than 1,5 km from the Citadel. The third one should be the Holiday Diamond Hotel combining cleanliness, service and helpfulness.
Where to eat?
"Les Jardins de la Caramboles", a french restaurant, no favoritism, just an address to be tested, traditional Vietnamese cuisine to be enjoyed in a colonial house, with soft piano music. A top service, qualified and smiling staff, a must on Hue.
Who says holiday, says good time, why not to try a small meal on the beach under a palapa at the Beach Bar, you will appreciate the fine sand under your feet,
fresh air and atmosphere, a perfect place to enjoy a coconut, a fresh fruit juice or a beer.
I could also mention the 2T Quan Nuong, a restaurant that can accommodate both groups and couples. The food is just excellent, just a few foreigners know the address, if you want authentic vietnamese food, this is a good place.
